On 14 November, 1913, the first volume of À la recherche du temps perdu (Remembrance of Things Past, a.k.a. In Search of Lost Time) was published. There was so little interest that Marcel Proust paid for its publication himself. Nowadays, ‘À la recherche’ is one of the best-known works of French literature.
Pat Donnez and four passionates search for the soul of Proust. What is lost time and what is regained time?
Those four experts are:
Franc Schuerewegen, a true Proustian in heart and soul;
Douwe Draaisma, a psychologist who specialises in the nature and mechanisms of the human memory;
Dirk De Wachter, a Proustian psychiatrist;
and Joke Hermsen who is obsessed with lost and regained time.
